Project Overview

Fullerton provided full architectural, structural, electrical and HVAC design services for a new two-story Head End building for a large cellular carrier.  Fullerton also provided construction administration and project management services, as well as routinely met with the carrier representatives and the general contractor throughout the duration of the build.

Project Challenge

The most difficult challenge of this project was to meet the client’s evolving needs, while maintaining all expectations set forth by venue management, and state and local government.  The complexity of working with multiple governmental agencies, the procurement of the permits and approvals, coupled with the design changes throughout the duration of the design/build process made this one of the most challenging projects Fullerton has completed to date, but also one of the most successful.

The Fullerton Strategy

Spanning the course of almost three years, Fullerton worked with the client to provide multiple design packages for the proposed DAS Head End facility.  Fullerton worked through multiple design iterations with input and changes not only from the carrier, but also from the city’s building and zoning departments, MLB, the team’s management and the state’s Sports Facilities Authority.
Fullerton completed a full architectural design package including structural, HVAC, fire suppression, electrical, civil, landscaping, life safety and emergency backup power design.  From there, Fullerton worked closely with the carrier throughout the bidding process and helped them select the awarded general contractor.
During the construction phase of the project, Fullerton worked closely with the carrier and general contractor by attending weekly conference calls and bi-weekly meetings onsite to discuss schedule, action items and to resolve any field adjustments throughout the project.
At the conclusion of the project, Fullerton completed a punch-list and close out of the building, and worked closely with the general contractor to finalize and turn over the project to the carrier ahead of schedule and on budget.  Since the initial completion of this project for the neutral host provider, Fullerton has continued its relationship with the carrier and has developed design layouts for the other major carriers as they have joined onto the system.  This project is a testament to Fullerton’s technical expertise, product quality and teamwork philosophy.
