Project Overview

Coordination of small cell planning and design covering ROW adjacent to a major airport.  

Project Challenge

The challenge was providing engineering for the project that required coordination between multiple entities.  Entities ranged from the program managers, government agencies and utility companies. 


The Fullerton Strategy

The scope included: installation on wood poles, stand-alone poles, and light structures.  Each of the 7 locations required a field survey, a 1A letter, power coordination, structural evaluation with foundation design, and construction drawings.   
Fullerton, the client and a permit consultant worked closely to navigate approvals from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), the Chicago Department of Aviation (CDA), the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT), City of Rosemont Building department, O’Hare’s communication contractor and O’Hare’s third party engineering consultant.  In addition, Fullerton was responsible for coordination with the CDA and the local power company for power as well as with the fiber provider.  Many meetings were attended and communication was key to the project being successful.
